Towards the end of 2023, WordPress bought an ActivityPub plugin. This one, to be exact. What this allows you to do is connect your WordPress blog into the Fediverse. We tried this many years ago and found it to be a very quiet place indeed. But things have moved on and the plugin makes it so easy to do that the question becomes – Why wouldn’t you?
We can view the Fediverse as a distributed social network, meaning people can then follow your website’s blog from sites such as mastodon.social . Or indeed, any similar sites using the same protocol. WordPress’ owner Automattic thinks this is a good think – hence purchasing the plugin we guess.
So we’re giving it a test, with a view to recommending it to our clients.
